Tune-In: Thursdays from 9 March at 8.30pm
He once called his books “little cat and dog stories” but Alf Wight’s (aka James Herriot) tales of life as a countryside vet were immortalised in the series All Creatures Great and Small. The practice may have moved from the original premises to a purpose-built facility but the heart and soul of this historic veterinary practice is very much alive and beating!
The Yorkshire Vet offers an insight into the now-deceased James Herriot and his original veterinary practice, Skeldale Veterinary Centre, based in the picturesque market town of Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
All vets at Skeldale have been trained to deal with all animals great and small with the expertise to administer medical aid and surgical skills to any animal whatever its size – from alpacas to piglets, cats to cows, hamsters to horses, bulldogs to bullocks; no animal is too big or too small for this rural practice.
